You’ve heard of ‘Flat Stanley,’ now get ready for ‘Flat Stack!’
While so many of us call Blacksburg home for nine or ten months during the year, breaks from school oftentimes send Marching Virginians all over the country, and sometimes even the world!
This summer, I thought it would be fun to bring us together through something we all know and love- our Hokie Bird, “Stack.” Stack is located at The Marching Virginians Center and named in memory of Ryan “Stack” Clark, a Marching Virginian and victim of the April 16th tragedy. Since we can’t all go visit Stack right now, what better way to remember him than to bring him to us! I created this “Flat Stack” for MVs to take pictures with wherever their summer brought them.
Below are just a few of the great places our MVs have traveled so far!
Chloe is an MV Flag and is pictured with Stack in VCU’s biomedical engineering laboratories. Chloe is interning there this summer and researching the processes that cause cells to become cancerous.
Aidan is an MV Net and is pictured with Stack hanging out at home. What a great way to kick back and relax during summer break!
This picture of Stack was taken by Jillian, an MV Net, in the observation tower at Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD, where she went on a tour with her mom. Stack is in front of the location known as "Bloody Lane", a site where some of the most gruesome fighting of the Battle of Antietam took place.
Juan is an MV Sax and is pictured with Stack at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in front of the castle. They had a blast visiting all of the rides in the park! How magical!
Nikki is an MV Bone and is pictured with Stack at the skate park. Nikki and Stack carved the bowl on their roller skates!
Stack has traveled far and wide, and I can’t wait to see all the places he will continue to explore! Feel free to print him out and bring him on an adventure of your own!
